Big Kids/Little Kids chronicles the first 8 years of the newly emerging contemporary art movement in Philadelphia. It features artists from SPACE1026, 1Pixel, 222gallery and Spector (the galleries that have supported this energy) and artists from outside of Philly who have shown in these spaces by shaping and being influenced by this scene. The book showcases the artwork and asks some simple questions of each artist. John Freeborn, one of the founders of SPACE1026, tells the story through his viewpoint, guiding you through the multi-layered connections that have helped fuel a new generation of artists from the city of brotherly love.

1-28-07, Time flies when things get hectic. On January 19th at the ICA in Philadelphia at the "Locally Localized Gravity" show the book was officially released to the public. The reaction has been awesome so far, and news is spreading quickly. It will be hitting stores internationally in February. Where can you get it you ask? If you are in the USA, try Urban Outfitters; in Tokyo, Japan try Hanna. More stores will be added, and I'll build a locator page in the next update. Of course you can still buy it right here - right now, online - Buy Now!
1-8-07, I can finally say the book is done! See some pictures above, for glimpes of actual spreads and art. 11-6-06, What's the hold up? you ask. Well I don't have a real answer. The book has been delayed, but only slightly and will be here very soon. I am so sure of this that we are now moving into the pre-order phase. So, click away, buy some books and be the first to get a copy.
9-28-06, The first round is at the publisher. Soon, I'll have the rough in my mits. If all goes well, this thing may just exist this year after all. I have developed a press kit, with some sample pages and images. Contact me for log-in info.
8-30-06, I am burning the disk as I type. I'll be sending it today to the printer. There is still a round or two to go, but this is one of the big steps. I'll be posting some sample pages soon, and now I have to prepare a press kit of some kind. Also, it has come to my attention that the diagram was incomplete. The new one is up there now.
8-4-06, Time is flying by. But the proofreading is done and interviews are transcribed. So, I just need to buckle down and make all the edits and get it off to the printer.
5-23-06, If all goes well the book should be done and available this summer (2006). At this time I'm finalizing words, proofreading, and preparing the images for print. Look here or johnfreeborn.com for news.
